COMMUNITY
CHARACTER BUILDING
Mission: To
engage our community in establishing, implementing and
sustaining a program to promote character-building assets
in Kettering.
Role:
Around
the country, communities are having a real impact when
they join together to intentionally build positive experiences
and personal qualities to help their children and teens
grow up caring, hopeful, responsible and strong. Our "Building
a Community of Character" initiative centers on promoting
and reinforcing 12 character qualities that more than
1,000 Kettering youth and adults helped select. As these
"Words of the Month" spread, our youth will
hear a united message -- not only at home, but at school,
where they work and eat out, at scout meetings, faith
gatherings and sporting events, and throughout the community.
Our goal: building character qualities and personal assets
that will help our youth make positive choices and develop
a strong base for a promising future.
